All her life, endless lonely Septembers,
Each spring, flowers bloom, she remembers;
Alone in her bed,
Love’s words breathlessly said,
His hot touch, her sighs fanning the embers.

The flesh and the spirit
Said a pious young Anglican deacon,
“One’s virtue should shine like a beacon!
When tempted, of course,
One may find, with remorse,
Flesh too willing. The spirit may weaken.”
The age of chivalry
Kings and princes had no need of dating;
The dozens of ladies-in-waiting,
Nice upper-class tarts,
Bless their monarchist hearts,
Were all pretty much there for the mating!
La rĂªve
Elle avait une vrai je ne sais quoi;
Il s’imaginait, donc, quelque fois,
Qu’ils faisaient l’amour
Puis on aurait toujours
Eu, au moins, ce bref instant de joie.
Lies and promises
He’d sworn love, promised always to stay with her;
Lies, till he had his damn way with her!
Cold as he grew,
Though he’d used her, she knew,
She still loved the cad, do what he may with her!
Misconception
Having altered her marital status,
Some weeks passed, a decent hiatus.
She said she believed
That she might have conceived,
But it turned out to be only flatus.
Easy come, easy go
The poor girl was left pale and wan;
Gave her all and, a bit later on,
Woke up, cold and alone.
She’d not have, had she known
He, the cad, would have just come and gone!
The demon, drink
Well, so much for good sense and respect!
Being drunk, what else might she expect?
She did things with some men
She was powerless, then
To prevent, or next day, recollect!
Skirting the issue
The girl’s skirt’s altogether too short;
Her breasts lack any means of support.
Has she no thought, or dread,
In her pretty young head,
Of the risk with which such dress is fraught?
Kirsty
A young man, deep in love with Miss Kirsty,
Thought “Ask her out!” thinking, at worst, he
Might get a knock-back,
But he hadn’t the knack,
So he didn’t dare do it, then, durst he?
