In her own mind, at least, all grown up;
Boys, sex, booze, got it pretty sewn up.
Sneaking out late at night,
Folks don’t know. Or they might.
Any case though, she’ll never own up.

Presumption of innocence
She was grown-up enough, he presumed,
For that fate to which soon she was doomed…
“Worse than death”, as they say!
If asked, what would she say?
Better not! His caresses resumed.
Wishing away childhood
She can’t wait to be old and grown up;
Adults pretty much have it sewn up.
They can stay out all night
And get drunk, fuck and fight,
And nobody can make them own up!
