Women’s menstrual cycles are lunar;
The moon dictates when, and no sooner,
They come into season,
And thus, one would reason,
Are keen to slip under the doona.

The embrace
Though she wasn’t immune to his charms,
She confessed to herself a few qualms;
Might he love her and leave her,
Debauch and deceive her?
“Who cares?” she thought, snug in his arms!
Unification theory
He saw life in terms mathematical;
Spent his entire sabbatical
Writing equations
For social occasions;
Praiseworthy, but rather fanatical.
Blind date
She went out with him on a blind date;
He was gorgeous! Oh God! Was it fate?
She felt clammy and weak,
When he spoke, couldn’t speak;
Was it love, or just something she ate?
Fibber
His technique of seduction was glib;
Charm and wit, an occasional fib.
If a woman saw through him,
And did the same to him,
He’d smile, take a breath, and ad lib.
Pretty in white
There she lay, wearing nought but a smile,
She beside whom he’d walked down the aisle.
She’d looked pretty in white,
He exclaimed , in delight,
But looked prettier now, by a mile!
Pyjamas
There’s a lot of debate re pyjamas,
Midst priests, rabbis, mullahs and lamas:
To sleep as one’s born?
Do pyjamas, when worn,
Act as moral and amorous armours?
Popes wear them, and both the Obamas,
Pearl buttons graced Vasco da Gama’s,
They’re not worn by nudists,
But enlightened buddhists
Say wearers are blessed with good karmas.
Raw silk is preferred by the charmers,
Plain cotton by housewives and farmers:
Defend them or scoff,
They’re good fun to take off;
Light relief in life’s sexual dramas.
By invitation only
Though his love for her came uninvited,
His future seemed unfairly blighted:
His love strong and pure
Could not have been truer,
Yet was, nonetheless, unrequited.
A muddle
She had got herself into a muddle:
A kiss and an innocent cuddle,
A couple of wines,
And his well-practised lines
Served her mind only more to befuddle!
Intangible
She was flirty, liked dancing and such,
Which was nice, but it didn’t help much,
For the poor fellows who
Wanted more, but who knew,
She was strictly all look and don’t touch!
